The Peekskill NAACP AND Mr. Wilbur T. Aldridge

The Peekskill NAACP is saddened by the passing of another soldier in the fight for equality.  Wilbur T. Aldridge's fight was often seen through being a combative rather than passionate.  He led the Hudson Valley and Westchester branches with blunt truth and a deep understanding and knowledge of our bi-laws and he constitution we follow today.   Our former Directory of our region was stern but often showed his love for the Peekskill branch as we carried forth the mission of the organization.  He was an integral part of reinstating our branch in 2015 with then Peekskill NAACP President, Martin McDonald. 

Mr. Aldridge's love for the branch grew as he counciled and mentored the next Peekskill President, Valerie Eaton.  That love continued with our current President Priscilla Augustin.  The latter presidents had the pleasure of celebrating his recent honor at the Nyack branch's Freedom Fund but more cherished than that, they attended his 80th birthday in 2025 where we celebrated with his closest friends and family.  We will miss his leadership, his quick-witted remarks and of course, his love for the Peekskill NAACP. ​
