Emergency Tele-Town Hall - Coronavirus Update
The coronavirus outbreak is now officially a pandemic. The World Health Organization made this declaration just hours ago, in what is now the latest update in the rapidly-developing spread of the virus, and of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. In the United States alone, more than 1,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed. Because of the racial and economic inequities embedded in our country’s infrastructure, the effects of the coronavirus could be compounded for Black and Brown communities. We’ve already seen many equity and justice challenges that must be addressed before they worsen and cause further damage. We know that news about the spread of the coronavirus is alarming and often-times confusing, so the NAACP has called on public health and policy experts to address how this crisis is affecting our communities. On Sunday, March 15 at 8pm ET, we will host an Emergency Tele-Town Hall about the coronavirus and its impact on communities of color.
